Alexandra Park 8s vs Winchmore Hill 7s

SAL Junior Div 4 North

9 November

Away lost 2-1

Last 2 games and we have suffered 2 losses missing 6 players through injury and unavailability this week but the biggest lost has been not having a keeper for the past 2 games and having an outfield player stand in for us and to play in goal shows the commitment I want from all of us and the squad strength we have.

This game was an unbelievable one, we only allowed AP to have 3 shots on goal and 2 were on target. One was another hit and hope from distance and a penalty. That is all they got from us.

But it just wasn’t our day any other game we would of won 10-2 but just not today. Chances just not going in for us, apart from Dave Vann’s beautiful effort from the edge of the box, again timing his run perfectly to put it in the side netting.

We dominated possession created chance after chance missing by inches and tearing them open in the second half with some beautiful play from front to back. You could see the surprise in our opponent’s faces when they won, it wasn’t because they worked hard and deserved it they were lucky and they knew it.

But the final result is what matters and we know that, but none of us felt like we had a bad game, again realising how strong we are and this season is going to be a long one and not be taken lightly.

Every player in this squad has remarkable ability and bring something different to the team each time they are selected which is what we need throughout the whole season. But extremely proud of the lads on Saturday as regardless of the result we played our game and we knew we were just unlucky. Predicting a selection head ache which is what I like and is what we all need to stay on our toes as I’m sure the players want to put these games in the past and to move forward.

Looking forward to being at home also as I’m sure the team are too for this weekend playing on decent pitches, but playing against a club with some bad blood Is a real test of character for us but these are the games we wanted last season competitive and fair.

A mention also to our debutant Jason Kelele a young man who showed great ability and mentality played him in holding midfield where he was fantastic then dropping him to left back and apart from one mistake he was immense. Pushing till the end and showing he wants to be part of this squad. Well done
