Old Parkonians 8s vs Winchmore Hill 7s

SAL Junior Div 4 North

2 November

This game was a loss which we can take if we know we have given it our all and lost to a side that played better then us on the day, but we didn’t.

With a makeshift keeper for us between the sticks in Granit Tahirbegolli who had the courage to step up for the team in our need of help, and he and our defence did well to try and keep their chances to a minimum. For him to be beaten by a hit and hope shot from distance and then the wind helping it along the way to make it go over the top into the back of the net.

The game was flat, with us only creating 1 attacking chance when Aren Hassan’s shot just pulled wide but apart from that nothing else. We didn’t get out of first gear throughout the whole game and it was embarrassing, top of the league and we had no bite.

We didn’t use the ball good enough in the midfield, not doing what was asked of us on a regular basis. Continuity is key. Massive holes in the midfield because our positional sense went out the window hoping for something to happen instead of making something happen.

When we did get the ball forward which wasn’t often, there were no forward runs at all. No one wanting to get in behind the defenders to get a goal for themselves. This was by far the worst performance from ourselves this season.

This was a game we were humbled and brought back down and made to realise that anything can happen at this level.

We all knew that this performance was unacceptable and really hard to take, but we loose as a team and win as one and we will deal with it together also.

It’s a long season and if we didn’t want to listen well then the pain we felt afterwards sure was enough I hope for all of us to make a difference and try not to repeat in the league again this season. We are the ones in control of our future and we decide what we do with our actions and this can not happen again as I know players want more from this season.
