The 3s pressed on with their 100 per cent start to the season with a 1-nil win over AP3s at New River.
Keith Deidrick scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot after George Fuller was brought down following a piercing run in the first half.
The Winchmore goal was hardly threatened, but AP might have had a penalty of their own after Will Bauckham lost his footing and clattered into the knees of the attacker headfirst. Surely the equivalent of being hit by a small car for the opposition player.
Whilst the defence dictated from the back, the attack should have punished AP several times in both halves. The second half, especially, saw Winchmore squander countless chances.
Josh Samuels, who is so often the onscreen hero in his off-pitch profession, turned villain with three criminal misses. However, the winger's movement and pace just could not be contained. Add a polished finish onto his game today and he could have walked away with the match ball.
Special mention to Sam Viravong who stepped in to deputise for Ben Mullin. A calm and assured performance kept our back four alert and organised.
Whilst our attacking needed to be sharper, our defence prowess was supreme - assures foundations for the season moving forward.
